THE FOUNDATION OF SEVEN LEAGUE

RESPECT IS NON-NEGOTIABLE.

Passion and competitive intensity are welcome. Abuse, threats, discrimination, retaliation and dangerous behaviour are not. Captains set the standard for their teams before, during and after every match.

01

RESPECT THE REFEREE

Do not surround, intimidate or abuse referees. The captain may politely request clarification when invited. Raise concerns with the organisation afterwards.

02

RESPECT THE OPPONENT

No violence, deliberate retaliation, harassment or dangerous challenges. Help prevent confrontations and protect injured opponents.

03

OWN YOUR TEAM’S CONDUCT

The team representative is responsible for players, substitutes, officials and associated supporters. Disciplinary action can affect both individuals and teams.

REFEREE DISAGREEMENTS ARE HANDLED AFTER THE MATCH — NOT THROUGH CONFRONTATION ON THE PITCH.
MATCHDAY PROCEDURES

BE READY BEFORE KICK-OFF.

These baseline expectations appear in both rulebooks. The Winter Cup Event Guide may publish specific check-in details for its one-day format.

20

MINUTES EARLY

Aim to arrive at least 20 minutes before kick-off so the team has time to prepare and enter the venue.

10

MINUTES EARLY

Complete the final matchday list, referee checks and player identification at least 10 minutes before kick-off.

00

SCHEDULED START

Kick-off is at the published time. The required minimum number of eligible players must be present with a goalkeeper.

05

MAXIMUM GRACE

A delay of up to five minutes may be allowed only if the field and event timetable permit it; it is not guaranteed.

BRING A SUITABLE BALL

Basel teams should bring at least one suitable ball as a backup. Winter teams should also be ready to provide a safe spare when requested. The referee decides whether a ball can be used.

KNOW THE DIFFERENCE

OUTDOOR 7V7. INDOOR 5V5.

Do not apply outdoor playing rules to winter indoor fixtures. The venue and the official rules determine how restarts, playing boundaries and substitutions work.

5-A-SIDE OFFICIAL RULES
LE FIVE SAINT-LOUIS: a ball rebounding from an approved sidewall remains in play; contact with the surrounding netting makes the ball out, normally restarting with the goalkeeper. The penalty area is an imaginary six-metre semicircle. Safety and venue instructions always apply.
ROSTERS & TRANSFERS

ONLY ELIGIBLE PLAYERS TAKE PART.

A player must be registered and approved for the appropriate team before taking part. Referees check the match, but Seven League determines administrative eligibility.

REGISTERED MEANS APPROVED

The player must appear on the approved team roster and final matchday list. A provisional or pending registration is not enough.

ONE TEAM PER COMPETITION

A player cannot represent another team in the same competition without an exceptional transfer or other permission approved in writing beforehand. Approval is not retroactive.

BASEL MATCHDAY DEADLINE

Players must normally be registered by 12:00 (Europe/Zurich) on matchday, unless an official notice states otherwise. Basel matchday lists may contain up to 14 players.

INELIGIBLE PLAYER = FORFEIT RISK

Fielding a suspended, unregistered or otherwise ineligible player normally leads to a 0–3 forfeit (or a worse actual result), with possible further sanctions.

CONSEQUENCES

DISCIPLINE HAS REAL CONSEQUENCES.

The starting sanctions below are summaries of the published rulebooks. Serious cases may lead to longer bans, team sanctions, points deductions or exclusion following review.

2 YELLOW CARDS

Sent off; automatic one-match suspension.

DIRECT RED CARD

Immediate dismissal and provisional suspension while the case is reviewed; the length depends on the offence.

SERIOUS MISCONDUCT

Violence, threatening officials, discrimination and other serious offences carry significantly longer starting suspensions.

DISPUTES & APPEALS

Routine factual refereeing decisions are ordinarily final. Eligibility, procedural and disciplinary appeals follow the official review deadlines.

NO-SHOWS · BOTH RULEBOOKS

NOT TURNING UP AFFECTS EVERYONE.

An unready team that misses the permitted grace period normally forfeits 0–3. Additional consequences differ by competition and circumstances, so use the official written decision as the reference.

01

FIRST NO-SHOW

0–3 forfeit and a CHF 100 administrative charge.

02

SECOND / REPEATED

0–3 forfeit and a CHF 200 administrative charge; a points deduction or exclusion review may also apply where permitted.

03

FURTHER BREACHES

Repeated non-attendance may lead to stronger measures, including removal from the competition.

FIXTURES & REVIEWS

ASK EARLY. GET WRITTEN APPROVAL.

REQUESTING A POSTPONEMENT

A request should normally reach Seven League at least seven calendar days before the fixture, with reasons and realistic alternatives. Player shortage alone is not an automatic right to postpone.

OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION

Opponent agreement by itself does not change a published fixture. The organisation must confirm the new date in writing. Winter Cup one-day fixtures usually cannot simply be moved.

REPORTS & APPEALS

Report emergencies or serious misconduct immediately. Administrative statistics normally have a 48-hour correction window; eligibility protests and disciplinary appeals use the deadlines in the applicable rulebook or Cup Event Guide.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

A FEW FINAL REMINDERS.

FOOTWEAR & SAFETY

Shin guards, safe equipment and suitable shoes are required. Winter indoor footwear must comply with Le Five’s rules; metal studs are prohibited.

FREE AGENTS

Need extra players? Explore the Free Agents community, but check their eligibility and existing team registration before inviting them to an official match.

TRAINING & FRIENDLIES

Teams may ask the organisation about training slots or friendly matches. These are optional opportunities, not guaranteed fixtures or substitutes for league matches.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

NEED A QUICK ANSWER?

Can we start with fewer than a full squad?

In Basel, at least five eligible players including a goalkeeper are required. In Winter League/Cup, the minimum is three, unless a stricter venue/event rule applies.

Can we ask the referee to overturn a decision after the match?

You can report a concern through the organisation. Routine factual decisions are not ordinarily appealable; serious misconduct, identity, eligibility and relevant administrative errors can be reviewed under the official procedure.

Do we pay a fine if we fail to attend?

The current regulations provide a CHF 100 administrative charge for a first no-show and CHF 200 for a second or repeated no-show, in addition to the sporting forfeit. The official decision confirms the applicable consequences.

When can a new player join the squad?

For Basel, registration is normally due by 12:00 local time on matchday; only approved players on the final match list may play. For Winter competitions, follow the approved roster and relevant League/Cup notice.

Do the same substitutions apply indoors and outdoors?

No. Both allow unlimited return substitutions, but Winter substitutions are only made with the ball out of play and referee authorisation.

What if the website summary differs from a PDF?

The applicable official PDF, mandatory safety instructions and valid written Competition or Event Notices govern. This page is a reader-friendly guide, not a replacement.
