Information you submit to register or enquire about competitions.
Sporting data that may be visible on the website, including results and player statistics.
You can ask about your data, request corrections and raise objections where the law permits.
This page is a transparency notice. It does not replace the applicable laws, competition rules or individual permissions required for particular activities.
THE COMPLETE POLICY.
Select a topic to understand which data is involved, why we use it and what choices you have.
Who is responsible?
The Seven League association (Verein Seven League), based in Basel, Switzerland, is the controller for the processing described here. For data-protection requests, use our contact page and include “Data protection request” in the subject or message. Where a third party operates its own service, that provider may be independently responsible for its own processing.
What this policy covers
This notice applies to sevenleague.ch, enquiries, competition and team registrations, Free Agents, player administration, Match Center, correspondence, financial administration, event photography and Seven League social-media activity. It is primarily governed by the Swiss FADP; the EU GDPR may apply to particular activities where its territorial rules are met. It describes the services actually in use; new app features and additional integrations should be reflected in an updated notice before activation.
Which personal data we process
Website and communication
- IP address, device/browser information, basic security and access logs, and necessary cookie information.
- Name, email address, phone number, city, message content and communications with Seven League.
Teams and registrations
- Team and company names, captain/representative details, competition preferences, squad information and registration status.
- Player name, team, number, profile photo where supplied, eligibility, match attendance and disciplinary records.
Sporting and financial information
- Fixtures, results, goals, assists, cards, standings, MVPs, Rewards and other performance statistics.
- Invoice and payment information needed for administration and accounting. Do not send payment-card details through ordinary forms.
Why we use it
- To reply to enquiries and assess applications from teams and individual players.
- To schedule matches, manage referees and venues, verify eligibility and enforce rules.
- To operate the Match Center, publish standings, results, profiles and sporting statistics.
- To administer payments, accounting, safety and security.
- To document and promote Seven League through match reports, photos, videos and community updates, subject to applicable rights.
- To comply with legal duties and resolve disputes.
Depending on the activity and applicable law, processing may rely on the participation relationship, pre-contractual steps, legal duties, legitimate interests or consent where required. A privacy-policy acknowledgement is not blanket consent for unrelated uses.
Forms, applications and email
Information submitted through a website form is provided to authorised Seven League personnel so that the request can be answered or processed. Forms may be operated using WPForms or other configured website tools. If WPForms Lite Connect entry backup is enabled, entry data may also be processed through that provider’s backup service. Do not send medical details, identity scans or other unnecessary sensitive information unless specifically requested through an appropriate channel. A submitted form does not, by itself, guarantee a place in a competition.
Free Agents and recruiting
If you register as a Free Agent or express interest in forming a team, we may process your name, contact details, chosen city, football preferences and the details you decide to provide. Relevant information may be displayed to or shared with authorised team contacts for the purpose of responding to your request or facilitating a team connection. Do not publish another person’s contact details without permission. Third-party WhatsApp groups and other external services have their own privacy policies.
Public competition information
To make competitions transparent and usable, we may publish team names and logos, player names and images, player-team associations, fixtures, results, league tables, individual statistics, bookings and competition awards. The information may be viewed publicly and may be indexed or shared by third parties. Captains should inform squad members before submitting their data. Historical sporting records may be retained where a legitimate archival purpose exists, while unnecessary personal information can be reviewed, restricted or anonymised when appropriate.
Photos, interviews and match video
Matches and events may be photographed or recorded for reporting, highlights, interviews, match analysis, the website, social media and promotional material. We aim to inform participants about planned media activity and obtain additional permission where required, especially for featured portraits or special promotional uses. You may contact us to raise a concern or ask that an image be removed from future use; the outcome depends on the circumstances, prior publication and the applicable law. Public posts already copied by third parties may not always be fully recoverable.
Cookies, embeds and external links
The site may use technically necessary cookies for security, session functions, forms and preferences. If optional analytics, tracking or marketing tools are used, appropriate information and choices must be provided through the relevant consent mechanism. Embedded media can involve requests to external providers. Links to Instagram, WhatsApp and other websites lead to services operated under their own privacy policies. Browser settings may help you manage or remove cookies.
Who may receive data
Personal data is available only to those who need it for the relevant purpose, which may include authorised Seven League personnel, referees, venue administrators, team representatives when relevant, hosting and website-service providers, email/form suppliers, banks and accounting providers, professional advisers and competent authorities where required. Public competition information and photos are visible to visitors when published. Service providers should be subject to appropriate contractual and technical safeguards.
Transfers outside Switzerland
Some website, communication or social-media providers may store or access information outside Switzerland. Where a transfer is subject to Swiss or EU safeguards, the applicable mechanism must be used, such as an adequacy decision, recognised contractual clauses or an available legal exception. The specific providers, countries and safeguards should be reviewed as the technical setup evolves.
How long we keep data
We retain personal data for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purpose, any participation relationship, lawful recordkeeping or disputes. Registration enquiries that do not proceed are periodically reviewed and should be deleted or anonymised when no longer needed. Team administration and sporting archives may be kept for an appropriate period; accounting documents are generally retained for the legally required period (often ten years in Switzerland). If a third-party backup service is enabled, its retention practices also apply.
Security and access
We apply proportionate organisational and technical safeguards, such as controlled administrative access, software updates, secure connections and backups, to help protect information. No online system is entirely risk-free. You should avoid including sensitive details in ordinary enquiries, and contact Seven League promptly if you believe your data has been exposed.
Your data-protection rights
Subject to the relevant law and justified exceptions, you may request access to your personal data, correction of errors and, in appropriate cases, erasure, restriction or an objection to processing. Where consent is used, it can be withdrawn prospectively. Additional rights such as portability may apply under certain conditions. We may verify your identity before responding. You may also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or another competent authority where applicable.
Children and younger players
Where a participant cannot provide the necessary permission themselves, a parent or legal guardian must provide any authorisation required by law or the competition conditions. Team representatives should not register a minor, provide their photo or submit personal details without ensuring that the necessary information and permissions have been obtained.
Changes to this policy
Seven League may revise this notice when competition processes, technology, legal requirements or publication practices change. The latest version and its update date will appear on this page. Significant changes affecting ongoing participants may also be communicated through other appropriate channels.
YOU ARE IN CONTROL.
You can contact the Seven League organisation with a data-protection enquiry, including a request about a player profile or an image. We will assess it under the applicable law.
Ask which personal information we hold and why.
Request correction of inaccurate player or contact details.
Raise an objection or request deletion where legally appropriate.
Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it for the future.
