Seven League, based in Basel, Switzerland, is responsible for the personal data processing described in this Privacy Policy.

Questions, requests or objections concerning personal data may be submitted through the Seven League contact page. Please use the subject “Data protection request” where possible.

Scope and applicable rules

This Policy applies to personal data processed through sevenleague.ch, contact and registration forms, team and player administration, league and cup operations, invoicing, communications, photographs, match recordings, social media and related Seven League activities.

Seven League processes personal data primarily under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and its implementing rules. Where another data protection law, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation, applies to a particular activity or person, Seven League will also comply with the applicable mandatory requirements.

Personal data we collect

Website and technical data

• IP address, date and time of access, requested page and server logs.
• Browser, device, operating system, referring page and basic security information.
• Cookie or preference information where used by the website.

Contact and registration data

• Team or company name.
• Name of the captain, representative or contact person.
• Email address and telephone number.
• Selected competition and preferred payment plan.
• Declarations, confirmations and information submitted through forms.
• Messages, enquiries and correspondence with Seven League.

Team and player data

• Player name, team, shirt number, role and eligibility information.
• Player profile, photograph and public sporting statistics.
• Match participation, goals, cards, results and disciplinary information.
• Team logos, squad information and competition history.

Financial and administrative data

• Invoices, payment plan, amounts due and amounts received.
• Bank-transfer references and necessary accounting information.
• Information required to resolve payment, contractual or legal matters.

Media data

• Photographs, video recordings, match footage and interviews.
• Images and content submitted by teams or representatives.

Why we process personal data

Seven League processes personal data to:

• operate, secure and improve the website;
• respond to enquiries and communicate with interested teams;
• review applications and manage team registrations;
• organise fixtures, competitions, referees, venues and results;
• verify player eligibility and enforce competition rules;
• publish standings, statistics, player profiles and competition information;
• issue invoices, monitor payments and maintain accounting records;
• document, report on and promote Seven League competitions;
• prevent misuse, fraud, misconduct and security incidents;
• comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Contact and registration forms

When a person submits a form, the information entered is transmitted to Seven League so that the request or registration can be reviewed and answered. Form notifications may be sent to authorised Seven League email accounts.

The website currently uses WPForms Lite. Where the Lite Connect entry-backup function is enabled, form entries may be temporarily backed up through WPForms infrastructure so they can later be restored. WPForms states that each Lite Connect backup entry is retained for up to one year.

A registration submission does not by itself confirm a team’s participation. Seven League reviews the application and sends payment instructions separately.

Competition and public sporting data

Seven League may publish information needed to operate and report on its competitions. This may include team names, logos, squad lists, player names, profile photographs, fixtures, results, standings, goals, cards and other sporting statistics.

The team representative confirms that registered players have been informed about the relevant competition-data processing and that the representative is authorised to provide the required information to Seven League. The representative must also inform new players before registering them.

Historical results, standings and competition records may remain available for sporting continuity and archive purposes. Personal details that are no longer required may be removed or anonymised where appropriate.

Photographs and match recordings

Seven League events may be photographed or recorded. Images and recordings may be used for competition administration, match reporting, highlights, the Seven League website, social media, promotional materials and historical documentation.

The team representative confirms that players have been informed about these uses and are authorised to participate under the applicable competition documents. Seven League may request an additional direct confirmation where an individual portrait or another prominently identifying use is planned.

A person may contact Seven League to object to or request the future removal of a particular image or recording. Seven League will assess the request in light of the circumstances, applicable law, existing publications and any overriding legitimate interests.

Website, cookies and similar technologies

The website may use cookies and similar technologies required for security, session handling, form functionality, preferences and reliable website operation.

If optional analytics, embedded media or marketing technologies are activated, additional information and available choices will be provided through the relevant cookie notice or settings. Browser settings can also be used to restrict or delete cookies, although some website functions may then be limited.

Links to external websites or social media platforms are governed by the privacy practices of the respective providers once the user leaves Seven League’s website.

Who may receive personal data

Personal data may be disclosed to the extent necessary to:

• authorised Seven League board members and operational personnel;
• website hosting, IT, form, email and security providers;
• accounting, banking and payment-service providers;
• venues, referees and service providers involved in competition delivery;
• professional advisers, insurers or authorities where required;
• the public where competition data, photographs or recordings are published as described in this Policy.

Service providers are expected to process personal data only for the agreed purposes and with appropriate confidentiality and security protections.

International data transfers

Some technology providers may process or store data outside Switzerland. Where personal data is transferred internationally, Seven League uses providers and safeguards intended to meet the applicable Swiss data-protection requirements, such as an adequate destination country, recognised standard contractual clauses or another permitted legal mechanism.

How long data is retained

Seven League retains personal data only for as long as it is reasonably required for the purpose for which it was collected, for competition administration, to fulfil contractual or legal obligations, or to establish, exercise or defend claims.

• Unsuccessful, incomplete or withdrawn applications are normally deleted or anonymised when they are no longer required, usually within 12 months after the relevant registration cycle.
• Active team and player administration data is retained for the duration of participation and for a reasonable period afterward.
• Public results and historical sporting records may remain available as described above.
• Accounting documents, invoices and payment records may be retained for the applicable statutory period, generally ten years.
• WPForms Lite Connect backup entries, where enabled, expire after one year according to WPForms.

Data may be retained longer where required by law, an ongoing dispute, an investigation or another justified need.

Data security

Seven League applies reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against accidental loss, unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. Measures may include access controls, password protection, encrypted website connections, backups, updates and restrictions on who may access administrative information.

No internet or email transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should therefore avoid sending unnecessary sensitive data through ordinary email or public forms.

Your data-protection rights

Subject to the applicable law and any justified limitations, individuals may request:

• information about whether and how their personal data is processed;
• access to their personal data;
• correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
• deletion or anonymisation of data that is no longer required;
• restriction of, or an objection to, certain processing;
• withdrawal of consent for future processing where consent is relied upon;
• delivery or transfer of data where a legal portability right applies.

Seven League may request suitable information to verify the identity of the person making a request. A request may be refused or limited where processing remains necessary for a legal obligation, contractual administration, evidence, overriding interests or the rights of other persons.

Individuals may also contact the competent data-protection authority. In Switzerland, this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.

Minors

Where a participant is under the age at which they can validly provide the necessary authorisation themselves, the team representative must ensure that any required consent or approval from a parent or legal guardian has been obtained before the participant’s data, image or registration is provided to Seven League.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

Seven League may update this Privacy Policy when its activities, website tools, competition processes or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page with the date of the latest update.

Material changes affecting an ongoing registration or participation relationship may also be communicated directly where appropriate.
